Weekly Recap In Photos

Hope everyone had a good first week of the new year!  We were busy getting back to the swing of things as my son had to go back to school.  I also finished my last week at my current job!

1.  Tuesday, January 3 - This is bad what I'm about to tell you...  A couple of years ago my mom gave me a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for my birthday.  I just got it out of the box this past Tuesday!  I know, I know...  The problem is, though I love to cook, I'm not much of a baker, so I rarely have a reason to use such an awesome kitchen appliance!  2.  Tuesday, January 3 - I finally broke out the stand mixer because it was my son's half birthday this week.  They let the kids with summer birthday's celebrate their half birthday so they can have a little party at school.  I made homemade chocolate chip cookies and they were so good.  I probably ate about 6 cookies worth of dough...  Oops!  3.  Wednesday, January 4 - Since the cookies turned out so well,  I got the mixer out again the next night!  4.  Wednesday, January 4 - I made Weight Watcher's Blueberry Streusel Muffins.  Man were they tasty, and at 6 points each, they were totally worth it.  Everyone in my family liked them.

5.  Thursday, January 5 - I've been on a mostly healthy kick lately, (emphasis on the mostly of course).  On Thursday I made another Weight Watcher's recipe, artichoke quiche.  I really enjoyed this one, but then, I really like quiche and I love artichokes!  I didn't do a post for either recipe, but if anyone is interested, let me know in the comments and I can get you the recipe!  6.  Friday, January 6 - Friday was my last day at work.  I have been a Safety Director for over six years now.  A co-worker brought me these beautiful flowers!  I just loved the yellow, green, and orange colors, and they still look beautiful in my dining room today!  7.  Friday, January 6 - I waited till my last day to clean out my office.  That's six-plus years of stuff right there.  I actually thought it was going to be more!  Honestly, it's mostly nursing school stuff.  8.  Saturday, January 7 - With all the holiday hustle and bustle being on the weekends, we waited till this past weekend to have our get-together for Christmas with our friends.  This year we did a sleep over theme where we all wore our pajama's.  But in this picture, I am also wearing what I got for our Dirty Santa exchange - a tacky Christmas vest.  I told everyone we have to have a Christmas sweater party next year now - I'm all set!

Weekly Recap in Photos

What an exciting, fun-filled week!  YAY!  For those who don't know...  I passed my RN state boards on Monday!  Coolest thing ever!!  We pretty much spent the week celebrating in little ways here and there.

1. Sunday, December 4 - I did my nails on Sunday.  That's when I usually do my nails.  They may not always look the best by the time Saturday rolls around, but I have found Sally Henson's Double Duty bottom/top coat does a great job.  I realized that my nail color choice this week is very similar to the color on my bathroom wall!  OPI Wyatt Earple Purple // 2. Monday, December 5 - Monday was the big day: The day I took the state board exam for my RN license!  This is a picture I took of myself right before I entered the facility and had to turn my phone off.  I had studied long and hard for this moment, so I was feeling pretty confident.  //  3. Tuesday, December 6 - St. Nick doesn't come to our house.  He stops at Matt's parents house to drop off our stuff!  This year we got an ornament each (mine was a Irish Santa with a beer...  haha - nice) and lots of candy!  Everything was chocolate including chocolate mints, chocolate covered cherries, chocolate coins, dark chocolate kisses, caramel covered chocolate, and Dove snowflakes!  Yum!  Just when the Halloween candy was gone...  We get a refill!  //  4. Wednesday, December 7 - Matt picked up dinner from one of our favorite local sandwich shops - Melt.  I almost always order their seitan cheesesteak sandwich.  It's an awesome vegetarian version of a meaty sandwich.  They also have a great selection of soups!  On this day I had the vegetarian chili.

1. Friday, December 9 - I attended a bachelorette party on Saturday, but this picture is me remembering to grab the flasks we wanted to take along for the evening...  Wanted to try and save a few bucks during the evening entertainment.  Funny thing - we brought them, but I totally didn't even break mine out!!  Fail.  //  2.  Friday, December 9 - My parents took us out to dinner Friday night to celebrate me passing my test.  We met them there and my mom had this balloon for me.  Pretty cool huh!?  My parents also gave me a really neat necklace with my initials and the nursing symbol.  That will be on an OOTD post soon for sure!  //  3. Saturday, December 10 - Who has colored tights now????  ME!  I'm so stoked!  Matt and I did some Christmas shopping on Saturday and I picked these up for myself!  I wore the blue pair Saturday night at the bachelorette party and received a ton of compliments!

Weekly Recap in Photos

This past week has been pretty void of excitement.  It's all picture #1's fault.  But finger's crossed and the gods willing, I won't be doing that again for a long time after Monday!  So - later this week I'll have either a really happy post, or an onthebrinkoflosingit post!  Happy thoughts!

1. Monday, December 28: Study, answer questions, study, more practice tests...  This is my life.  But hopefully for not much longer!  //  2. Tuesday, December 29:  It was my son's turn to bring in a snack to share for the Cub Scout Den Meeting.  Being a scout, I thought it would be better if he brought something in he actually made, so I helped him make frosted sugar cookies.  He did all the decorating.  //  3. Tuesday, December 29: Along with making cookies, I also made a casserole with leftover Thanksgiving turkey.  It was really easy to throw together and super tasty as well!  Pretty simple - onions, garlic, a can of cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and turkey poured on a bed of noodles, topped with french fried onions!  20 minutes in the oven and we were ready to eat!

1. Thursday, December 1: I was studying on the couch in the living room and I got up to get a drink of water.  When I came back my cat Cleo had found a spot on the couch, laying right on top of some papers and notes...  She was keeping my papers warm I guess?  //  2.  Thursday, December 1: I've been wearing glasses since I was in 5th grade.  That was a long time ago!  Somehow, I walked out of the house without my glasses on Thursday!  I didn't notice till I was about halfway to work!  Luckily I have prescription sunglasses that I keep in my purse all of the time.  Soooo...  I wore my sunglasses all day at work till I got home that afternoon...  Yeah - hopefully no one thought that I was hungover!

Weekly Recap in Photos

Wow!  The holiday weekend sure did fly by!  I was busy with family and friends every day!  I do have an outfit post and my first recipe post to catch up on.  But for now I want to fill you all in on a little Sunday project I've been planning:  My week in iPhone photos.

1.  Sunday, November 20: Painted my nails Nut Brown by Sally Hansen.  Love this go-to color!  //  2.  Monday, November 21: One of my truck drivers made this awesome homemade chex mix.  He brought it into work to share and I couldn't eat enough!  I gotta get that recipe.  //  3.  Wednesday, November 23:  ACK!  I got stuck in traffic!  Don't you hate when you're the first one stopped and you end up waiting for FOREVER!  I was there so long (almost 10 minutes) I had to snap this picture!

4.  Wednesday, November 23:  I made this fantastic Weight Watcher's recipe, Mexican Pork and Sweet Potato Stew.  This is actually the recipe I'll be posting soon!  It's a slow cooker recipe that was easy to put together the night before and quite tasty that evening for dinner!  //  5.  Wednesday, November 23:  Matt and I had a couple of friends over that night for a game night.  We played Lord of the Rings, the Living Card Game.  It's a great game where everyone plays together to try to beat the quest.  //  6.  Friday, November 25:  Since we bought our house we have always had a pretty big day-after-Thanksgiving party.  Living in Cincinnati, we just recently had the opportunity to by Yuengling beer.  We bought a keg for the party and it hit the spot!  //  7.  Saturday, November 26:  The Thanksgiving leftovers!  There are plenty of them and I helped myself to a piece of late night pumpkin pie.  Yum...
